Surveillance Testing

CCSD Employees:
Employees that have not had the third vaccine booster (Pfizer and Moderna), the New Mexico Public Health Order requires staff to provide CCSD their weekly surveillance test results. Any staff that does not have a booster vaccine card must test weekly. This includes all employees with one or two vaccines or no COVID-19 vaccines. All CCSD are highly encouraged to get a vaccine voluntarily.  In order to be exempt from the surveillance testing, employees are encouraged to get the vaccines including a booster. Employees that have had the Johnson and Johnson vaccine do not have to undergo a surveillance test.
Update: Rapid Antigen test will be accepted for COVID-19 weekly surveillance testing or Test to Stay Antigen test per the New Mexico Public Education Department dated January 19, 2022. Those that do not have symptoms, must use the free Rapid Antigen tests for the weekly surveillance test. Rapid Antigen tests must be booked prior to testing at a designated location below.
Weekly Surveillance testing: Employees that have been identified to undergo the weekly surveillance testing and email the surveillance test results to Marlena Harvey’s email address each week: [email protected] during the assigned week. Employees may use their own accrued personal leave (Sick, Paid Time Off or Vacation) if testing within working hours. It is suggested that all employees choose one day a week to perform the tests so that the results come back consistently and as quickly as possible.

Surveillance Testing FAQs

Can I go to another onsite COVID testing location for the surveillance testing?
  • Yes, you can go get tested at another DOH Testing Site if you choose not to do the vault surveillance testkit (saliva testing).
Can I use my PO Box for the Vault Surveillance Testkit?
  • No, UPS will not deliver to the USPS PO Office Box. Use your residence physical address or one of the school addresses that is designated (Eva B. Stokely, Newcomb Elementary, or Kirtland Warehouse). UPS only delivers to physical addresses.
Do I have to test in consecutive weeks?
  • Yes, if the random generator selects you for surveillance testing.
I receive both my vaccinations. Do I still need to do the surveillance testing?
  • Individuals who provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination are not required to participate in surveillance testing.
Will all testing options be 100% covered by our insurance?
  • Yes, you should not have to pay to get tested.
What if I refuse to get tested?
  • Surveillance testing is a necessary and required step toward welcoming our students back into classrooms. Your cooperation is appreciated. This is a condition of employment and refusing to take the test can be grounds for discipline, up to and including termination.
Does an employee that is working 100% virtually need to be tested?
  • It depends on the testing group you are in, if you are someone who normally works in the school building and you have a medical exemption you would not need to be surveillance tested.
  • If you are part of the administration testing group (ICO, Athletic, Finance, HR, Support Services,) even if you have a medical exemption, you will still have a surveillance test, if randomly selected.
I tested positive for COVID, do I have to take the surveillance test?
  • No, you are not required to take the surveillance test until after 90 days from your positive date test. If you are selected, the email you receive asks you to reply to the email.
When I receive the email or receive the testkit when should I complete?
  • within 48 hours of receiving the link or receiving the testkit.
Do I need to stay home while awaiting results?
  • If you are not symptomatic and this was a surveillance test, you do not have to stay at home until you get your results back.
  • If you are symptomatic or have been in close contact with a positive person, you must notify your supervisor, so they may report your symptoms and/or close contact to the COVID email address. This initiates the CCSD rapid response task force processes. You should work from home.
What happens if I never receive my test kit?
  • You may request for a new link to be sent to you or if you have any additional questions regarding your Vault test or results, please reach out to (212) 880-5494 or email [email protected] with any questions.
