Milo McMinn Bio

Mr. Milo McMinn is the founding Principal of Bond Wilson Technical Center (BWTC) which is a New Mexico Public Education Department designated early college high school academy.  BWTC offers CCSD high school students in grades 10th through 12th dual credit coursework in collaboration with Navajo Technical University and San Juan College.  Bond Wilson Technical Center opened its doors in August of 2018 and currently has six guided industry-based pathways in high growth high wage occupations that include Welding, Healthcare Sciences, Construction Trades, Mechatronics (Engineering/Computer Science), Industrial Maintenance, and Culinary Arts.  In just two years of being open, as principal Mr. McMinn has generated 2.2 million dollars in donations and grants to start new initiatives, build 6 new state of the art labs, and work to renovate the school site to better promote student learning.  Though collaboration of industry partners such as Raytheon, Arizona Public Service, North American Coal- Bisti Fuels, and Navajo Transitional Energy Company, BWTC has become a premier early college CTE center that offers students relevant industry-based hands on learning while giving students engaging experiences through activities like state skills competitions, guest speakers, industry fieldtrips, internships, and hands on industry-based projects.
 
Mr. McMinn grew up in Grants, NM and graduated from Grants High School in 2002. Mr. McMinn then studied secondary education at New Mexico State University- Las Cruces where he graduated with high honors, a 4.0 GPA, and was selected as the Outstanding Senior for the NMSU College of Education. Mr. McMinn has 8 years of experience in teaching history at the high school level where he was the department head at Kirtland Central High School before moving into administration for the past 5 years.  Along with his love of teaching, Mr. McMinn also was an active high school coach in Football, Tennis, and Track.  Mr. McMinn holds a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction through NMSU and is completing a post graduate certificate in Educational Leadership through WNMU. 
 
Mr. McMinn believes that a collaborative and an engaging school environment is key to creating both successful teachers and students. During his free time, Mr. McMinn like to nerd out on all things Marvel and enjoys going to the movies.  Mr. McMinn is also and avid hunter who loves to be in the outdoors in the woods.  Most of all Mr. McMinn enjoys spending time with family and friends while having good laughs.
