Dear families and staff of Central Consolidated School District,
We are writing to you today to bring attention to a concerning bullying issue that has arisen across the nation. Reports have found that students, including elementary children, are using TikTok to create fake accounts under the name "Lala Bop." Students use these fake accounts to target and bully their classmates outside of school. This trend of cyberbullying is becoming increasingly popular and concerning. We must take steps to protect our children and ensure that they are safe from harm both in and outside of school.
We take the safety and well-being of our students very seriously, and we are working closely with our staff to address this issue. We encourage our parents to speak with their kids about this serious issue that is impacting students across the nation. These social media accounts do have age limit and parents can find resources to monitor their children’s accounts on these platforms.
Any student who has been the victim of bullying, or who has witnessed bullying, is encouraged to speak up and report it to a teacher, counselor, parent or another trusted adult. We have an anonymous reporting stystem called See Something Say Something for students to report suspicious activity. Reports are directed to both the school district and law enforcement to ensure student safety. See Something and Say Something is available to access on the district and any school's website.
We also want to inform parents that we have attached additional articles to this letter that provide more information on this national concern. We encourage parents to educate themselves and become aware of this trend and how they can help their children stay safe online.
