UPDATED NOVEMBER 27, 2020: In accordance with the current Public Health Order, the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) in consultation with the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) has placed Central Consolidated School District - Facility, Eva B. Stokely Elementary, Ojo Amarillo Elementary, Kirtland Elementary, Kirtland Middle School, Kirtland Central High School, Newcomb High School, and Career Prep High School on the New Mexico Environment Department’s COVID-19 Watchlist.
We were informed that we are on the watchlist because we have had two rapid responses within a 14-day period. Should schools experience two or more additional rapid responses within a 14-day period, we will be required to cease any in-person learning (with the exception of small groups, adhering to the 5:1 guidance), and transition to a remote learning model within 7 days of notification, at which time school(s) shall remain in remote until San Juan County is in the green on the DOH health map.

When the Central Consolidated School District (CCSD) receives notification that a student, staff or faculty member has tested positive for COVID-19, CCSD works hard to protect the privacy of the person involved and to communicate transparently with families. The students, faculty, or staff that are in close contact with the person that tests positive are then notified and mandated to quarantine at home for 14 days from the last date of possible exposure.
CCSD firmly believes that communicating transparently is the only way our stakeholders can make well-informed decisions for their families and the community. The information about positive cases will be updated on our website, ccsdnm.org, and our social media channels.
Please know that we continue to follow CDC guidelines and protocols set by the Department of Health. We urge you to continue to follow health and safety guidelines, including frequent handwashing, staying home when sick, social distancing while in public, as well as wearing a mask.
