CCSD thanks local companies for donations
Central Consolidated School would like to extend its warmest gratitude to three organizations for their holiday gifts to the students of the district.
KOATs for Kids, based out of Albuquerque and sponsored by KOAT 7 and its partners, donated nearly 200 winter coats to the district to keep all students warm during the summer months. Archuleta Restoration and Remodel, of Albuquerque, drove the coats all the way to Shiprock where district staff will distribute the coats on a needs basis.
“There are so many kids in our district who will benefit from these coats,” Kristy Stock, federal programs supervisor for CCSD, said. “When parents and students aren’t worrying about necessities like a warm jacket, we know that they can put more effort into their school work and get the education they deserve.”
Both Toys for Tots and Northern Edge Casino in Farmington also donated holiday gifts to district students. CCSD’s maintenance staff assisted Toys for Tots with their efforts by helping to unload toys into storage containers while also helping to fill goody bags for holiday workshops on the same day. The Toys for Tots effort was coordinated with local Marines and also the Navajo Nation police officers in Shiprock.
“It was truly incredible to see so many CCSD employees drop what they were doing and get out to support efforts that would put smiles on our students’ faces,” Dr. Colleen W. Bowman, CCSD superintendent, said. “The district is extremely grateful to Toys for Tots and to Northern Edge Casino for providing so much holiday joy to our students. We look forward to working with these agencies and more every year to give our students and their family’s wonderful holiday memories.”
